Maintaining the momentum in the 4KTV sector over 2016, satellite operator SES has signed up entertainment channel 4KUNIVERSE to its Ultra HD line-up.

SES 4 k universe 5 Dec 2016Delivering content to cable operators and other TV platforms across North America, and licensed to multiple video program distributors (MVPDs) by Vivicast Media, 4KUNIVERSE offers documentaries, sports, films and TV shows aimed at millennials and Generation-X viewers. 4KUNIVERSE Ultra HD content includes series such as Model Turned Superstar and wine competition series Best Bottle. Live sports content includes exclusive 4K rights to the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour, while the 4KUNIVERSE film canon features a range of titles, such as 80’s drama The Toy Soldiers and the launch of crime thriller Wolf Mother in 2017.

The channel will make its debut on the SES-1 satellite— one of three SES deploys for North American Ultra HD distribution, namely SES-1, SES-3 and AMC — at the centre of the orbital arc from January 2017. 4KUNIVERSE is the fourth Ultra HD channel in less than two months to join SES’s regional Ultra HD platform which by launch will be home to eight linear Ultra HD channels. SES has now inked distribution deals with over 30 Ultra HD channels globally.
