In the face of competition from the country’s train providers who are busily enhancing on-board experiences, leading UK coach company National Express has launched over-the-top (OTT) video for passengers.

national express coach 17 NOv With its service enabled by GoMedia, National Express will provide premium content for around 19 million journeys across the UK every year. It will initially be launched on select National Express coaches, with the remainder installed in 2017. GoMedia specialises in enabling entertainment solutions for transport or infrastructure companies that allow them to monetise their services.

As with previous deployments, in particular with Virgin trains and Eurostar, GoMedia will use Irdeto Rights to secure access to the National Express OTT service, accessible via the on-board Wi-Fi either through the iOS and Android apps or via PC or Mac.

These launches demonstrate real consumer demand for a stable and high quality content service when taking long journeys,” said GoMedia managing director Roger Matthews.
