As happened in Argentina and Uruguay, HBO is releasing a revamped HBO GO platform, however it is keeping the service tied to a pay-TV subscription.

hbo goAccording to the company, this new streaming platform and mobile app is a necessary step before launching HBO GO as a standalone service in Brazil, a move announced last March.

HBO subscribers in Argentina and Uruguay also received a new version of the platform but no news of an HBO GO launch as an independent video service.

“VOD platforms’ growth has been impressive in Brazil, with 82% of Brazilians consuming some sort of content through them. Through the new HBO GO version, subscribers will be able to enjoy HBO’s content anywhere and at any time with a better experience,” said Francisco L. Smith, EVP, distribution and media development, HBO Latin America.

With no extra fee, HBO/MAX pay-TV subscribers will have immediate access to the new platform, which includes some of the company’s latest series such as Insecure, Divorce (with Sarah Jessica Parker), Westworld (starring Anthony Hopkins) and A Vida Secreta dos Casais, HBO’s latest Brazilian original format.
