After several months of being close to launch, Spain’s video-on-demand (VOD) service Filmin has finally released a PlayStation platform.
Filmin and its 9,000-title catalogue will be available for Sony’s PlayStation 3 and 4, thus increasing its multi-screen availability. In addition to the browser platform, Filmin is also available for iOS and Android mobile devices, smart TVs from Samsung and LG, Android TV, Apple TV and Chromecast.
The PlayStation app enables users to access both the subscription VOD (SVOD) service and the pay-per-view catalogue, as well as all the search features and themed collections Filmin has available online. These collections are among the most popular features of Filmin, as they drive viewers to discover the less mainstream part of the catalogue formed by independent movies and classic titles.
Slowly consolidating as a different proposal in Spain’s VOD market, Filmin has grown a catalogue of over 9,000 films and series, including titles from directors like Christopher Nolan, Martin Scorsese, Michael Haneke, Lars von Trier and Pedro Almodóvar.
A year ago, the service also initiated a Latin American expansion by launching in Mexico Filmin Latino, a VOD platform which has, for now, a much shorter catalogue.
