English-language news channel France 24 has launched a high definition (HD) service free-to-air for viewers across Asia via the AsiaSat 5 satellite.

France24 EnglishThe HD service, the first around the world from France 24, comes seven years after France 24 first launched its standard definition English language channel via satellite into Asia. The broadcaster also offers regional viewers a French language news channel, also carried on AsiaSat.

France 24 now has a reach of 60 million TV households and almost 300,000 hotel rooms in Asia through key carriage agreements with major Asian cable networks, direct-to-home (DTH) and IPTV platforms and hotels.

The HD channel, providing international news and current affairs from a French perspective, can be found on AsiaSat 5 located at 100.5° East.
