A video processing solution from Elemental Technologies is to power the new data centre of Uruguay’s state-owned telco Antel and its over-the-top (OTT) platform VeraTV.

antel elementalAntel has already been using Elemental’s solutions to stream live coverage of the Olympics to thousands of viewers across Uruguay.

VeraTV is growing in popularity in a country with the highest connected population in Latin America. With a 74% penetration rate, Uruguay’s fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network connects 62% of homes.

Antel’s platform is offering 40 free live channels and video-on-demand (VOD) as well as premium content services. The head-end for these services uses Elemental Delta – which is specifically used for live, VOD and time-shifted OTT services – Elemental Live and Elemental Server video processing and delivery solutions as well as Elemental Conductor to manage workflows.

The new data centre will also provide the platform through which Antel intends to expand the Uruguayan online streaming industry.

“The implementation at Antel is a great indication of the way that Elemental provides solutions at enterprise scale,” said Keith Wymbs, CMO at Elemental. “This new data centre is set to be a model for the region and for the world. We are very proud that Elemental has been named as the strategic technology partner to take Antel into the future of online and mobile content delivery.”
