Telefónica has launched Movistar Música in Peru, a multiscreen digital platform aimed at promoting local artists and producers.

“We at Movistar believe in the huge capabilities of Peru’s musicians, which is why we have put our platforms to serve them, to give them the opportunity to reach a wide audience,” said Luis Eduardo Garvan, brand and communications manager, Peru, Movistar.
Movistar Música, which comes in both SD and HD versions, is the sixth linear TV channel owned and programmed by the company in Peru. In addition to the traditional TV network, the linear programming will be available via streaming through the mobile and browser platforms.
The line-up is, for now, built upon video clips and news, but the platform will develop its own shows, set to premiere in October. The company is also open to artists’ proposals; creators can contact Movistar Música through Facebook and email.
Peru is Telefónica’s strongest video market in Latin America, in which the Spanish telco offers its entire digital portfolio, including the recently-launched over-the-top (OTT) platform Movistar Play. The company owns almost 70% of Peru’s 1.6 million pay-TV households.
