In a move designed to accelerate its global distribution strategy, ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) has appointed Ruth Clarke as managing director.

Previously EVP, global content strategy and investment, ITVS GE, Clarke had led ITVS GE’s global content strategy across all genres, and says ITV had a track record of growing and strengthening the distributor’s relationships with content producers. Clarke joined ITV Studios in 2012 as director of acquisitions and co-productions from Shine International where she was SVP, head of EMEA. Before this Clarke held a variety of positions at The Walt Disney Company including head of branded services, digital media distribution, EMEA.

In her new role, she will not only oversee distribution strategy, but will also continue to preside over the distributor’s aggressive content acquisition activity. She will report to ITVS president, international, Maria Kyriacou.

ITVS GE has grown consistently over the last five years, having built a stellar global network of producers from both within ITVS and the wider business,” Kyriacou remarked on the appointment. “Ruth’s leadership of the content strategy has put the business on the right footing for our next phase of growth and I know she will work really well with the fantastic ITVS GE team to achieve this.”

For her part, Clarke added: “The business is in a great position – we have a brilliant team representing a world-class portfolio of content across almost all genres. It’s a fascinating time to be working in the global television business, the opportunities are vast and my priority will be for ITVS GE to continue to make the very most of them.”
