A strong slate of dramas, in particular The Night Manager, has given a huge kick to the performance ratings of the BBC iPlayer in March 2016.

iPLayer S4CAccording to data from BBC iStats, there were 308 million TV and radio requests for programmes on BBC iPlayer and iPlayer Radio in March, an overall increase of 3% compared with the previous month. TV alone rose 2% but the BBC noted an estimated undercount of eight million TV requests from Android and Xbox devices.

Dramas dominated BBC iPlayer’s TV requests in March. Episode three of The Night Manager earned more than two million requests, with every one of the six episodes getting at least a million requests (including episodes one and two, which first became available in February). New BBC Three drama Thirteen was another big hit, with episodes one to five all featuring in the top 20 programmes this month and the first episode delivering 1.9 million requests alone. BBC Three documentary Sex in Strange Places also did well.
