Spain’s public broadcaster RTVE has presented a virtual reality (VR) and 3D experience to complete the transmedia strategy of its series The Ministry of Time.
rtve realidad virtualOne of most successful RTVE fictional series on an international scale, The Ministry of Time will see a special episode, El Tiempo en tus Manos (Time in your hands), co-developed by Future Lighthouse and Onza Entertainment.

The immersive VR experience will enable viewers to take part in the episodes’ action. The ten-minute video is available through the Ministerio VR app, downloadable from Google Play, Apple Store and Samsung Gear VR app catalogue.

In order to watch the episode, users will need the Oculus VR device or some of the most powerful smartphones in the market, such as iPhone 6, Nexus 5 or Samsung Galaxy 4 and above.

“As a public network, we have to have at the forefront of broadcasting technology,” said Fernando López Puig, fiction director for the broadcasters’ TV division, TVE.

“It’s a highly disruptive virtual technology and TVE had to add this technology to the transmedia strategy around the series,” added Ignacio Gómez, new projects director, TVE.
