Ethnic Channels Group has hired television industry veteran Christian Morsanutto to serve as senior vice-president of business development and operations.

ecgMorsanutto will oversee ECG's US marketplace pay, free, basic cable, satellite, PPV, SVOD, VOD and other television transmission sales initiatives, including the company's Nextologies technology for global video delivery. He will also oversee the company's US digital distribution and non-theatrical efforts.

In addition to distributing ECG's proprietary programming, the television and digital division aggregates third party content and provides sales and distribution services to operators, digital platforms, content management firms and other independent distribution companies in need of a television and digital sales partner.

The announcement of Morsanutto's hiring comes hot on the heels of ECG's entrance into the US market with an extensive line-up of international channels, live-event VOD and PPV distribution.

"Christian is one of the most effective and well-respected senior executives in the international television business and we are thrilled that he will be joining our senior team," said Slava Levin, CEO of ECG.

"Our television and digital division will work with the other divisions of the company to provide a fully integrated approach to content distribution, acquisition and transport worldwide."

With more than 20 years of television sales and operations experience, Morsanutto most recently served as vice-president of business development and operations for Reach Media Inc/ART. Prior to Reach Media, Morsanutto worked for SkyView Media, where he served as GM of Italian Services.

"Ethnic Channels Group has built a compelling infrastructure capable of supporting the signal acquisition and distribution of content across a wide variety of platforms and channels on a global scale," said Morsanutto. "Additionally, the synergies created between the parent and its foreign subsidiary enables the company to offer content suppliers the means to reach a worldwide marketplace. As media consumption increases, studios, television networks and other key players in production need to deliver more and better content, and Nextologies is the solution that streamlines processes and clarifies communication."
