That Grupo Secuoya was aiming to take the tenth slot in the Spanish free-to-air sector was known, but the company has now announced that its first DTT network will be called Ten.

ten secuoyaDuring the Aedemo TV event being held in Spain, Raul Berdonés, Secuoya's president, unveiled the new name, one of the best kept secrets about the new channel and a change from the provisional name of D10.

The network is now finalising its 24/7 line-up, which is to start airing last at 11.59pm on 28 April.

There has been a succession of announcements as Ten's launch date gets closer. Last week, the group unveiled most of the executive structure which is to lead the network, headed by Javier Valero.

Since six new DTT licences were awarded in October, but so far only Atresmedia's Atreseries has started broadcasting, and it looks like Ten will be the next to go live. Indeed, the network has been airing a promotional video loop since December.

Among the other companies awarded licences, Real Madrid TV has not yet started nationwide broadcasts, Kiss Media has not unveiled much about its plans and Mediaset has not officially announced any plans.
