Viacom has launched MTV's TV everywhere platform, MTV Play, throughout Latin America.
As a part of a bigger strategy seeking to enable all its networks for mobile and connected devices in the region, Viacom has introduced MTV Play for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.
Although most of the company's content is going through a curation process so it gets adapted to smaller screens and different ways of consumption, Viacom aims to drive the platform through the premiere of MTV Super Shore. Indeed, the new edition of the reality format will air on the TV everywhere platform two days before it airs on the regular network.
The app, which has been launched for the Spanish-speaking Latin America and will make it to Brazil in April, will enable users to watch via streaming the regular MTV linear signal.
Regarding video-on-demand (VOD), MTV Play will have entire seasons and the most relevant episodes of series like Acapulco Shore, Catfish or Teen Mom, and classics like Beavis and Butt-head.
