Middle East pay-TV operator OSN has slated a 1 February launch date for four new high definition (HD) channels.

OSN Yahala Cinema HD, OSN Movies Family HD, OSN First HD Home of HBO and H2 HD will join the recently introduced BBC First HD channel on the MENA-wide satellite TV platform.

More new channels are set to be unveiled in March, the Dubai-based pay-TV operator said in a statement.

“We are continuously pushing our boundaries and reinventing the TV industry landscape of the MENA region through our investment in content that no other network can offer. This is our central strategy for 2016,” said David Butorac, CEO, OSN.

“The new channels reflect the exclusive global industry partnerships that we have strengthened over the years. We have first access to content of all the new channels for our OTT and On Demand platforms too, thus also enhancing the true ‘anytime, anywhere’ TV experiences for our subscribers.”

OSN Yahala Cinema HD is the first Arabic movie channel in true HD, allowing viewers to watch Arabic films such as Hayati Mebhdela, Shad Ajza’a, Ahwak and Awlad Rezik shortly after their theatrical release. Meanwhile, Finding Dory, The Jungle Book, Kung Fu Panda 3 and Inside Out, are among the Hollywood films scheduled for 24-hour channel OSN Movies Family HD.

OSN First HD Home of HBO will bring HBO’s award-winning series to MENA viewers at same time as they air in the US, while the History Channel’s H2 HD is a new premium factual channel. H2 HD will be fully subtitled by April while the existing History channel will be 100% subtitled in Arabic by March, said OSN.
