AccuWeather has announced a record-breaking increase in video views for 2015: a 300% jump vs. prior-year results.

The company is crediting its weather video content and interface design created via its partnership with Brightcove for the increase. It was purpose-built to allow site visitors to find, view, and share weather videos with others. AccuWeather trending videos are featured, along with breaking weather updates and weather news, storm chaser footage, weather and health, and other topics.

AccuWeather videos are also driving greater ‘stickiness,’ the company said, as users stay longer with AccuWeather to view and benefit from additional weather videos that are convenient to scan and access from relevant content adjacencies in the interactive video wall configuration.

"As the world's most trusted weather source and digital leader, with the No 1 mobile weather website in the world, conveying breaking weather updates and trending video content in a visually engaging, intuitive, and innovative format is a top priority for AccuWeather," said Trish Mikita, VP, digital media strategy, AccuWeather.

In addition to working on its interface, AccuWeather made four key appointments towards the end of 2015. Vincent McDonald was named chief international strategy officer; John Dokes was named GM of the AccuWeather Network; Steven Smith was named president of digital media; and Chris Patti was named CTO.
