The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) has revealed that over 80% of Spanish people with smartphones use them while watching TV, and 60% also have a tablet nearby.
According to the Mobile Marketing report, 95% of mobile phone owners (15.4 million) already have a smartphone in a market led by Samsung (33% market share), followed by iPhone (12%), LG (10%) and Sony (9%).
And only 17% of smartphone owners don't touch it while watching TV. Almost 60% use it to text and chat, 43% use it for social media, 37% check their emails, and 27% play video games. But, surprisingly, only one in ten smartphones owners use their device to comment on what is being broadcast live on TV.
The figures also show that smartphones are the main access vehicle for the Internet (85% use it daily), far above PCs (67%) and tablets (45%), and each owner uses their smartphone for three hours 23 minutes per day, an hour more than indicated by a similar report, last year.
The most installed apps on smartphones are WhatsApp (on 75% of devices), Facebook (48%) and Twitter (22%), while on tablets, YouTube appears on two out of ten devices.
