In order to focus on the social TV demands of the Latin American and US Hispanic market, Israeli start-up Applicaster is opening a new commercial and development office in Miami.
Laura Tapias, VP for Spanish-speaking markets, an executive member of the Android development team along with other commercial and technical staff will all be moving to the new office.
"Being based in Israel, it was very difficult to give support to clients on the other side of the world. It made us work 25 hours a day," said Tapias. "Applicaster's main development centre will still be located in Israel, but through the Miami office we intend to better meet the region's demands."
According to Tapias, Applicaster's major clients are located within the region. "We look forward to increasing our strength in Latin America," Tapias added.
Indeed, over the last 12 months, the start-up has deployed social TV and second-screen mobile apps for Argentina's Telefe (MiTelefe) Peru's America TV (both for regular programming and sports coverage), and previously for Univision in the US.
During this year's Copa América football championship, Applicaster also powered social TV apps and video delivery in Mexico, Colombia, Panama and Peru.
