The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has appointed MP & Silva as its global advisor for media rights to extend the broadcast reach of its sporting events and maximise their commercial value.
The 15-year deal starts in 2016 and comprises FAM competitions including the Malaysia Super League, the Malaysia Premier League, the FA Cup, the Malaysia Cup and the Piala Sumbangsih Match.
The agreement covers domestic and international rights for all media platforms and devices including terrestrial free-to-air TV, cable and satellite TV, Internet protocol television (IPTV), in-flight television, mobile Internet and video-on-demand (VOD) rights.
Andrea Radrizzani, founding partner of MP & Silva, welcomed the deal with FAM, calling it the biggest for a local league ever sealed in Asia.
"We are proud to be partners of this progressive initiative and are looking forward to work with them and advise on all TV, digital media and sponsorship rights for the M-League and are heartened by their collaborative approach to establish the FMLLP," said Radrizzani.
Beatrice Lee, MP & Silva's managing director (Asia Pacific), added: "This is an important initiative for the FAM and our company, and this new distribution approach will only benefit Malaysian Football. Our goal is to work closely with all the major broadcast platforms and media in Malaysia and across the region to showcase their leagues and competitions."
The deal follows the recent appointment of MP & Silva by the Ekstraklasa Polish Football League and the Belgian Football League for the domestic and worldwide distribution of their media rights.
