By the end of Q2 2014, over half (53.7%) of all cable subscriptions in Latin America were for digital packages, the first time digital customers have overtaken analogue subs in the region.

According to latest figures from Dataxis reported by NexTV LATAM, more than 30 million Latin Americas are subscribed to cable platforms, representing just under half the entire pay-TV subs in the region, which are mostly signed up to direct-to-home (DTH) platforms.

Latin America's digital customer base was up by 17.1% as of June 2014, compared to a year before, while analogue subs fell by 6.6% in the same period.

Among the region's seven largest markets, Brazil is showing the highest rates of digital cable penetration, followed by Chile and Mexico.
