White-label video publishing company thePlatform has appointed Michael Kurtzman as vice president of sales for the Americas and Jouari Santiago has joined thePlatform as director of sales for Latin America.

Kurtzman comes to thePlatform with more than a decade of experience. Previously, he served as general manager of projekt202, a technology consulting company. Prior to that, he served as vice president and general manager at iLoop Mobile. When iLoop was acquired by Lenco Mobile, Kurtzman spun iLoop's SlingShop division into a standalone entity. Earlier in his career, Kurtzman held various sales and marketing leadership roles for SaaS and client services organisations, as well as general management roles at both large enterprise and start-up companies, including Teleca, Sybase 365, Marconi, and GTE.

Kurtzman holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Santiago meanwhile will lead the business development and sales efforts for thePlatform's cloud-based mpx video management system across Latin America. His background includes more than 15 years of experience in the digital video industry.

Prior to joining thePlatform, Santiago was the head of product development at Canada's Shaw Communications, where he oversaw the company's broadband video strategies across its portfolio of digital entertainment properties, including Shaw Go, Shaw VOD and Shaw Media. Previously, he served as product development manager at Canwest Publishing, where he spearheaded the development of company-wide mobile strategies, video strategies, IPTV and digital signage initiatives.

Santiago received a master's degree in business and marketing from the University of Liverpool. He will report to Kurtzman.

"Michael has an impressive track record building and expanding sales channels for new technologies across the digital media industry, and his expertise will benefit our customers and sales organisation as we expand our efforts around the globe," said Marty Roberts, co-CEO of thePlatform. "We are also excited to have Jouari Santiago join thePlatform to strengthen our ability to meet the needs of our customers in Latin America. We are confident that both Michael and Jouari will make significant contributions to the company's success going forward."
