Completing a major European and African rebranding, A&E will replace Bio on Spanish pay-TV platforms from 2 October.

The network will be bringing new reality shows and exclusive programming under the banner Be Original.

Canal+, ONO, Movistar TV, R, Euskaltel and Telecable, among other pay-TV operators, will be adding A&E with series such as Wahlburgers and Big Smo, as well as other productions which have already achieved success for Bio, like Duck Dynasty.

"The arrival of A&E to Spain means a qualitative jump in our content offer; it's a channel with new as well as internationally recognised programming," said Carolina Godayol, CEO at The History Channel Iberia. "We are convinced A&E's series will capture the Spanish audience."

The pay-TV channel targets an adult audience between 25-54 and its programming has already conquered the US, Canada and Latin America, achieving 27 Emmys during recent years.

As part of an international move which is kicking off in Germany this month, A&E is rebranding Bio in German-speaking Europe, Iberia and Africa. In Spain and Portugal the new channel is being produced by AMC Networks International Iberia - formerly Chello Media - and A+E Networks.
