After several delays, ETB has finally launched its IPTV offer for the Colombian market. It consists of 150 channels, including 40 HD signals, which are offered in a triple-play service, although customers cannot subscribe for the pay-TV without also buying Internet and telephone packages.

Until the end of the year, the offer includes two free set-top-boxes (STBs), which include the HD and recording option. Up to 50 hours of content can be stored in the STB for free until 31 December 2014, with customers having to pay an extra fee afterwards.

The service will be offered through ETB's fibre network.

Among the HD channels offered in the basic package are FOX HD, TNT HD, AXN HD and ESPN HD, plus children's channels and the whole free-to-air national schedule in the IPTV service.

The interactive platform solution will be provided by Huawei, offering an end-to-end tool using ETB's fibre network. The telco, which is 88% owned by the city council of Bogotá, has been modernising its infrastructure to keep pace with its two main competitors in the country: America Movil and Telefonica.
