French pay-TV Premium channel Canal+ has acquired the Israeli thriller Hostages, after inking a deal with distributor Armoza Formats and local sales partner Ace Entertainment.

The series will air on Canal+ in March, and will be the first Israeli drama picked up by the channel.

Hostages features a woman surgeon thrown into the middle of a political conspiracy after her family is kidnapped and the hostage-takers demand she kills the president during routine surgery.

The series also has been picked up by BBC in the UK.

The original version launched on Channel 10 in Israel but a US adaptation wrapped up its 15-episode run on 14 January.
