DIRECTV has added four Spanish-language networks to its DIRECTV En Español programming platform: De Película, De Película Clásico and ViendoMovies, and the lifestyle and music channel Bandamax.
"DIRECTV understands how important high quality, culturally relevant content is to our Spanish-speaking customers, and we are committed to growing and enhancing DIRECTV En Español into the best Spanish-language programming platform in the industry," said Dan York, DIRECTV's chief content officer. "With the addition of these new networks to our line-up, DIRECTV En Español now offers more Spanish-language movies than any other provider in the industry, making it the ultimate movie and sports destination."
De Película, the No 1 movie network in Mexico for more than a decade, and on air since 1979, connects Hispanic movie lovers with Spanish-language cinema. The network airs approximately 300 titles per month including drama, comedy, westerns and musicals, as well as movie marathons featuring Latin American stars like Cantinflas and Pedro Infante.
De Película Clásico offers a library of more than 800 titles from the golden age of Mexican cinema. And ViendoMovies is a commercial-free film channel produced and programmed with around 250 titles per month especially for US Latinos.
Bandamax, meanwhile, is the first music channel to showcase specifically Mexican culture — it delivers 31 shows and 53 hours of original programming per week.
DIRECTV En Español offers more than 75 Spanish-language channels from México, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, Perú, Chile, Venezuela, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panamá, Nicaragua and more, along with access to more than 240 English-language channels of DIRECTV programming. DIRECTV also shows all Mexican league football matches, and league games from Europe and other Latin America countries.
