Mexico's Netsonic has reached an agreement with Publiespaña to commercialise Mediaset's online video inventory in Latin America.
The group’s websites lead Spain's Web TV, with over 17 million unique users in October 2013. According to Netsonic, Publiespaña has detected increased video consumption from Latin America, especially from Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Peru, leading Mediaset to support its service with a special agreement for the region.
“Netsonic will help us to improve our digital advertising income by bringing Latin American advertisers to our platforms, monetising the increasing consumption in the region,” explained Manuel Rodríguez, commercial director for the Internet at Publiespaña.
The DF-based group focuses on covering Latin America's audience by increasing its physical presence in several countries. In addition to Mexico's capital, Netsonic will open an office in Bogotá in Colombia and Miami in the US before the end of the year.
Latin America has 255 million Internet users, and according to Netsonic, 65% of these consume online video, with 26% doing so through a mobile platform.
Netsonic and Publiespaña will target the multiscreen environment as online video consumption is on the increase worldwide.
“We are the best option for Spanish and American media with support needs in Latin America,” added Xavier Rius Planas, Netsonic's CEO.
