Attempting to hit the right note for its online video ambitions, Internet giant Yahoo! has entered into a strategic partnership with premium music video and entertainment platform VEVO.
VEVO has established itself as a key part of the burgeoning online video arena and in the latest comScore Video Metrix rankings was the leading YouTube channel with 47.8 million unique viewers, showing 621 million videos at an average viewing rate of 41.4 minutes per viewer.
The move extends Yahoo and VEVO’s existing partnerships in France, Spain and Italy, where in addition to streaming all of VEVO’s music videos, Yahoo is VEVO’s sole advertising sales partner.
Under the terms of the new partnership, VEVO will bring its catalogue of 75,000 HD music videos to Yahoo Screen and omg! in the UK via the desktop and mobile platforms. Users will be able to be watch official videos from artists, live concert performances and other VEVO original programming.
