Flingo has inked a partnership with Opera Software to launch multiple smart-TV apps based on HTML5, with Flingo's dynamic ad insertion capabilities.

The partnership will allow TV manufacturers using Opera's TV products to get apps from Flingo's media partners, and will allow all Opera TV developers and ecosystem partners to leverage Flingo technology for driving higher advertising revenue.

The first six apps, including Popular Science, Fitness, Saveur, Fora.tv and CelebTV, have launched, with more apps coming soon. They can be accessed on Opera-ready TVs and devices from a variety of manufacturers, including Sony, TiVo, TCL and HiSense.

"This partnership between Opera and Flingo is a win-win for manufacturers, media partners and users alike," said Daniel Nordberg, director of business development for TV and devices at Opera Software. "Our OEM customers can expect more content to meet the growing consumer demand and new revenue streams to transform the manufacturing business."

Flingo's automatic content recognition (ACR) platform, Samba, connects smart TVs, laptops or tablets and mobile phones via a Web browser to deliver contextually relevant information to viewers.
