Music and entertainment portal VEVO will launch in Germany this year following an agreement signed with German music rights association GEMA enabling the US company to make its 75,000-plus music videos, concert recordings, documentaries and other content accessible to German Internet users.

VEVO offers both on-demand music videos and a linear music TV stream. The service can be used free-of-charge on the website, as an app on smartphones and tablets like the iPhone and iPad, and via Xbox and Apple TV. Music fans can share their favourite videos and personal playlists on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. A trailer has been created to inform the German audience about the upcoming launch.

VEVO Deutschland will have its headquarters in Berlin. The platform, which launched in the USA in 2009, will then be present in a total of 13 countries including the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The shareholders are Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music, Abu Dhabi Media and Google.
