Germany's national telco Deutsche Telekom has exceeded the mark of two million customers for its IPTV platform Entertain.

On 31 March 2013 the offering had 2.036 million customers – up by 18% compared with the same period in 2012.

In total, Telekom acquired 311,000 new IPTV customers over the past 12 months. From its 12.4 million broadband customers, 16.4% have now opted for the TV service.

In the first three months of this year, Entertain won 70,000 new customers – considerably less than in Q1 2012 when 173,000 new customers were signed up.

The reason for this could be the company's loss of the Bundesliga IPTV rights to Sky Deutschland. From the 2013/14 season, Telekom will cooperate with the pay-TV broadcaster and will offer its customers Sky's Bundesliga service along with all other Sky packages instead of its own LIGA total! product.
