International channel KidsCo has confirmed that the Syfy Kids programming block will launch in Asia in July 2013.
Syfy Kids, the product of a partnership between KidsCo and Syfy, will debut with a content line-up featuring original programming and recently acquired titles from Platinum Films and KidsCo joint-venture partners.
The Syfy Kids-branded block will air exclusively on KidsCo at peak viewing times and will be fully dubbed into local languages including Mandarin, Cantonese, Malaysian and Indonesian. It will be enhanced with a new graphics package and a line-up of imagination-based content.
Hendrik McDermott, managing director of KidsCo, said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of Syfy Kids. We have acquired a raft of quality, imagination-based content – including the acclaimed series Matt Hatter Chronicles – which, once fully dubbed, will bring Syfy Kids to life. From July, KidsCo will deliver all primetime programming, over 120 hours, fully dubbed into Cantonese, Mandarin, Indonesian and Malaysian. Providing affiliates with a channel in a local language continues to be a core offering for KidsCo.”
Further to the Syfy Kids-programming block, KidsCo has also invested in dubbing additional content for south east Asia. Key titles airing in July include Sonic Underground, Grossology, and Turbo Dogs. In total, KidsCo will deliver in excess of 120 hours of dubbed content, fully localising all primetime programming.
Syfy Kids will launch with a first-run exclusive of KidsCo’s original production Zuzu & the Supernuffs. Other content includes Matt Hatter Chronicles; Z-Squad; Back to the Future, the animated series; The Future is Wild; Evolution: The Animated Series and Dino Squad.
