Eric Denoyer, the president of French cable and IPTV operator Numericable, has again stated his desire to take over Vivendi's affiliate SFR and merge with Numericable, as part of the company's business strategy.

Interviewed by Le Figaro Economie, Denoyer said there is significance to acquiring Numericable as it is a leading operator in terms of fixed high speed broadband and SFR, is first with mobile subs and has the most advanced 4G very high speed broadband. Adding that such a move would add value, he said it would be an answer to Free Mobile's shaking up of the mobile market.

However, SFR CEO Stéphane Roussel, recently explained that SFR was not for sale and that no merger was being considered.
