Comcast has updated its Xfinity TV Everywhere app for Android and iOS to include the ability to download movies and TV shows from four premium cable networks for offline watching.
The app is available to subscribers to Encore, MoviePlex, Showtime and Starz, users are reporting. A 'download' button for those subscribers now appears next to the 'play' button, and users have a choice between 'medium' and 'highest quality' so that they can manage their bandwidth and storage allocations.
Engadget noted that the quality is not premium: "The high quality option wasn't quite HD quality to our eyes, but certainly passable for viewing on a flight or subway," it reported.
