German TV group ProSiebenSat.1 will launch its long-planned free-to-air channel for older viewers in early 2013 under the name Sat.1 Gold.

"We have made quite some progress regarding the content and orientate ourselves on the success model of sixx," Jürgen Hörner, chairman of the management board of ProSiebenSat.1 TV Deutschland, told industry magazine "kress report"

"Sat.1 Gold will focus on fiction as well - but German fiction, of course, as this resembles the core of the Sat.1 brand," said Hörner. "This way, we will be able to provide a high-quality offering from day one."

ProSiebenSat.1 confirmed in March 2011 for the first time that it is considering a TV channel for an older audience. Most recently, the Munich-based company launched pay-TV channel ProSieben Fun and women's channel sixx.
