Turner Broadcasting System Germany (TBS) will launch a high-definition simulcast of its children's channel Cartoon Network on 15 October 2012. The first carriage partner will be Germany's largest cable operator Kabel Deutschland.

Cartoon Network HD will be offered in pay-TV package "Premium HD" while the standard-definition version will remain in the "Premium Extra" bouquet.

At launch, 70% of the programme line-up will be broadcast in native HD including original productions such as "Cartoon Network Spurensuche - Schnitzeljagd war gestern!" with Collien Ulmen-Fernandes and the second season of talent show "Cartoon Network D! Hall of Fame" with Detlef D! Soost und Kate Hall. The HD share will be gradually increased.

TBS Germany announced in September 2011 to launch Cartoon Network HD in October 2012. Boomerang HD will follow in 2013 and will also be available on Kabel Deutschland's cable network.
