As it looks to ensure revenue streams across increasingly complex pay-TV ecosystems, in particular over the top (OTT), global security specialist Conax has launched Xtend Multiscreen.
Designed in conjunction with strategic partners MPS Broadband and Cubiware, with whom Conax has won a number of new contracts in the growing Latin American region, the new solution is designed to provide pay-TV operators with a, pre-integrated ecosystem that will “considerably” reduce time-to-market for delivering new services to connected devices that see use with not just OTT but also catch-up, VOD and live broadcast services.
Explaining the rationale behind the launch, Conax noted that traditionally the challenge for pay-TV operators looking to harness the opportunities and demands presented by OTT distribution has been identifying a full-featured, secure multiscreen solution. Combining the aggregated technology and expertise provided by itself, Cubiware and MPS Broadband Conax asserts that it is now possible to offer what it calls a “truly unique” solution for making the transition to advanced multiscreen services, allowing operators reduced cost and time-to-market for delivering new services to the connected devices such as hybrid client devices, tablets and smartphones.
Contego Xtend Multiscreen also features consistent user experience across all devices with CubiTV middleware, follow-me functionality and smart remote control and Peer2View technology from MPS Broadband.
"The Conax Xtend Multiscreen(TM) approach is unprecedented in the market today,” says Tom Jahr, EVP Products & Partners, Conax. “Working with strategic partners Cubiware for advanced user interface technologies, and MPS Broadband for content management…the Xtend Multiscreen solution has the potential to set a new standard in terms of price/performance for multiscreen solutions….that will enable operators to capitalize on the new multiscreen television environment."
