The traditional TV set remains the most popular way to watch television among TV viewers in Germany.
70% of Germans use neither computer screens nor mobile devices for TV consumption, according to a survey conducted by the Link Institute German industry magazine Horizont among 1,000 people of 14 years of age or over.
The reception device most used instead of the TV set is the stationary computer with 22.1%, followed by notebooks with 12.1%. In the group of viewers between 14 and 29 years of age, the number of viewers using not only the classic TV set is higher than among older age groups.
If other devices than the TV set are used for television consumption, then this is mainly done to catch up with programmes missed when they were originally broadcast (52.7%) or to watch content recommended by friends (51.8%).
