Around 700,000 viewers are watching a local channel each day in France according to Médiamétrie’s new audience survey.
The survey studied the various results of 18 local channels, such as Alsace 20, Normandie TV, Télénantes, Tébéo, TV SUD Montpellier. 16 are based in the French regions, 2 in Paris area : IDF1 and NRJ Paris.
The TV Locales report monitored audiences from September 2010 to June 2011 and found that 690,400 people are at least dedicating 36 minutes of their daily viewing time to a local channel.
The study also revealed that 21.4 million people aged 15 and above can receive at least one DTT local channel on their TV set. Among them, 7.8 million viewers are watching from time to time.
