TV broadcaster MTV Networks will launch three new HD channels in Germany on 16 May 2011: MTV HD, VIVA HD and Comedy Central HD/Nickelodeon HD will be available on the IPTV Entertain on the ADSL broadband network of national telco Deutsche Telekom.

The HD versions will simulcast the programmes of the conventional channels in high-definition. In total, Entertain will then offer 19 HD channels. Its video-on-demand-portal contains 2,000 HD titles.

"We are excited that we will be able to provide all our German core channels in high-resolution quality through the move, thereby further expanding our diverse offering for our different target groups," said Stefan Liebig, Vice President Distribution and Affiliates North and Germany at MTV Networks.

With MTVN HD, MTV Networks has already been offering an HD service in Germany. In February the company announced that it would launch HD simulcasts of its three main channels in Germany .
