Web advertising in France grew 9% in 2010 to reach €2.3 billon according to new research from the e-pub Observatory.

The research company forecasts a 12 % additional growth for 2011 and this contrast with 2009 when web advertising revenues had slowed down to a mere 6% growth after a bullish 28 % for 2008.

In 2010, French advertisers kept investing in majority into online research and more specifically into Google sponsored links. This sector posted a 9% growth to €960 million.

However online video advertising is breaking through as it passed from €12 million to €30 million in turnover over one year. These figures should be bolstered even more in 2011 as increasing amounts of consumer goods firms use online video as a complement to TV commercials.

Mobile advertising is also keeping developing thanks to smartphones, registering a 23% growth in 2010 to €27 million.
