The German version of pay-TV channel Animax has commenced offering selected programmes from its own branded channel on the PlayStation 3 platform.

The TV station operated by Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) is the first German broadcaster to be onboard Sony’s games console.

PlayStation users will be able to access selected Animax programmes any time as an on-demand service at no charge. “The users of PlayStation 3 are nearly identical with the viewers of Animax,” Günther Picker, general manager of SPTI Networks Germany, revealed. “It would therefore be a natural step to extend the channel to the gaming console.”

Animax screens entertainment programmes for viewers between 14 and 29 years of age including Japanese cartoons (animes), series, movies and shows on electronic games, music, cinema/DVD releases, lifestyle topics and trends.
