Movistar_FuturaSpain's main telco Telefónica and its pay-TV operator Movistar Futura TV (formerly called Imagenio) will launch a TV package with new HD channels and also a new hard-drive set-top box.

The package will be named Movistar Futura 100/10 Imagenio Familiar DVR and it will also comprise internet broadband access at 100 Mbps.

Apart from the DVR functions the new set-top box will include a high-definition digital-terrestrial tuner and in the new future it will incorporate Dolby Digital sound.

The platform's new HD channels will be Eurosport HD, Unitel Clásica HD and MGM HD. The operator already offers AXN HD and Gol TV HD. This offering complements the on-demand HD films the operator already offers its Movistar Futura subscribers.

So finally Movistar Futura TV is officially extending its HDTV offering, some weeks after the story published by 'Rapid TV News' citing the HD offering but only in tests and without the operator having signed any contract with the channels.
