Like the TF1, Canal+ and M6 groups, private TV groups NextRadioTV and NRJ want to get a bonus DTT channel. Both have applied for a new free DTT service - HD sport and music services called RMC Sport HD and Chérie HD.
The applications follow the call for bids launched by TV regulatory body CSA regarding two new DTT channels.
RMC and NRJ estimate that launching new services instead of the HD version of existing offers would stimulate the HD TV market and open programming to new genres.
