upcAustria’s largest cable operator UPC has expanded its digital TV offer. New to the service are men’s channel DMAX, documentary broadcaster Animal Planet, series and film channel Romance TV, children’s channel yourfamilyentertainment and Auto Motor und Sport channel, a thematic service for car fans.

Due to a change in the contract with pay-TV operator Sky, UPC has removed the channels Jetix, Junior, Focus Gesundheit und Sky Krimi from its Digital TV Plus package. Lifestyle channel Voom HD will be replaced by extreme sports channel Rush HD on its high definition HD+ pay-TV package. Also on board HD+ are Eurosport HD, National Geographic HD and Fashion TV HD. HDTV households can additionally receive ORF 1 HD and ARTE HD, operated by public broadcasters.

Of UPC’s 545,000 cable TV customers, more than 200,000 receive digital television.
