Arianespace recently signed a new contract for its 11th launch this year, of a telecommunications satellite belonging to the operator Avanti Communications Group.

Avanti Communications Group is an industrial holding company gathering EADS Astrium and the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). The holding has forecast it will launch the Hylas satellite in the first half of next year on an Ariane 5 spaceship or perhaps on a Soyunz spaceship. This decision is yet to be made.

The new satellite will occupy the 33.5 degrees West orbital position. Spanish satellite operator Hispasat operates at 30 degrees West, the most important operator for the Portuguese region since it carries the signals of ZON TV Cabo and Meo pay TV operators.
