history_hdAETN All Asia Networks (AAAN) will enter Taiwan for the first time, launching its bouquet of channels on the networks of Taiwanese cable operator, Taiwan Broadband Communications, including high definition service History HD.

AAAN, the joint venture between A&E TV Networks and Astro All Asia Entertainment Networks, will launch History, The Biography Channel, Crime & Investigation Network and History HD in June 2009. The services will be subtitled.

TBC relaunched its digital-cable services in March, adopting MPEG4 and deploying only high definition set-tops to digital subscribers. “Of course,” said Loke Kheng Tham, President of Taiwan Broadband Communications, “no platform is complete without quality content. TBC is pleased to partner with AAAN to be the first to air their suite of 4 world-renowned channels including History HD, which have never been seen in Taiwan before. We believe this will greatly enrich TBC’s digital TV proposition for our customers.”

Louis Boswell, general manager of AAAN, said: “Taiwan is a strategically important market for us. We believe there is real momentum now in the migration from analogue to digital services, and we are very happy to announce our launch on TBC.”
