DISH beats DIRECTV to top US satellite rankings

DISH Network has topped the list of best satellite services from BestSatelliteProviders.com, an independent satellite reviews site.

BestSatelliteProviders.com evaluates each satellite TV provider's packages, video recording capabilities, channels and customer service, including small and rural operators. The reviews are independently conducted by multiple staff members and then compared to rank the top satellite TV provider.

DISH narrowly edged DIRECTV, notably by offering 2TB of recording capacity compared to DIRECTV's 1TB, and offering the ability to record six shows at once on the Hopper DVR as opposed to five on DIRECTV's Genie.

After the BestSatelliteProviders.com team spoke to consumers, it said it discovered that most people prefer the options that satellite TV provides over cable. "Cable is becoming increasingly expensive and the options are limited when compared to the leading satellite TV providers," the company said.
