In presenting such work, David Bowie Is… has made use of the Digital 9000 system, developed for all professional users in broadcast studios, theatres and live performances offering  uncompressed digital audio transmission to result in artefacts-free sound. Indeed the microphone manufacturer claims that it is intended for those unwilling to comprise on sound; something that could be said of The Thin White Duke himself.

The Digital 9000’s use of what are claimed to be “extremely” steep filters are said to allow for a very narrow set-up of the respective radio frequencies within the available frequency range without risking intermodulation. With its handling and feature list — including as one example 12 different microphone heads to choose from — the Sennheiser Digital 9000 system is said to not only delivers a unique sound quality but also lets its professional users experience a whole new kind of flexibility.

In the context of the exhibition, the Sennheiser sound system deploys sensors which sense proximity and deliver each individual piece of audio as visitors walk around. In short, designed to satisfy those who wonder sometimes about sound and vision and don’t want a low in terms of experience.
