Zee TV brings Indian content to Shaw Cable subscribers in Canada

ZEE Americas is partnering with Ethnic Channels Group Ltd (ECG) to launch the Indian content-focused Zee TV Canada on Shaw Cable. The deal covers more than 94% of South Asian households in the country.

“We are very excited about this development. It is an immense opportunity to re-draw the growth potential, as western Canada is home to more than 35% of South Asian Canadians,” said Sameer Targe, business head for ZEE Americas.

Slava Levin, CEO of Ethnic Channels Group, added: “As Zee TV Canada continues to expand its footprint in Canada, Shaw Cable is an integral part of this plan.”

In July 1998, ZEE TV expanded its presence in the international space by establishing itself in North America, reaching more than two million viewers.  It caters to a wide audience with a growing number of channels including ZEE Cinema, Zing, ZEE Business, TEN Cricket, ZEE Marathi, ZEE Kannada, ZEE Telugu and Alpha ETC Punjabi and ZEE Smile.

“Shaw Cable customers will be delighted with the plethora of content that Zee TV Canada has to offer,” said Hari Srinivas, president of ECG.
