MTS taps Pace to provide residential gateways in Manitoba

Set-top box and residential CPE provider Pace has signed a deal with regional Canadian operator MTS, which provides service in the province of Manitoba, to provide a new residential gateway.

MTS will take on the Pace 5168N Bonded VDSL2/ADSL+ residential gateway which provides 802.11n wireless throughout the home for connecting a range of personal devices. The so-called 'super Wi-Fi' offers MTS the ability to provide better throughput than previous iterations of the 802.11 standard.

"The Pace 5168N gateway helps us deliver Internet speeds of up to 250Mbps on the MTS FiON Network and will be used to deliver speeds of up to 50Mbps over our VDSL2 network," said Stan Kurtas, vice president of marketing, MTS. "We can further expand our broadband service coverage and provide better in-home wireless networking performance thanks to our partnership with Pace."

Added Tim O'Loughlin, president of Pace Americas: "Pace is continuing its long history of partnering with MTS to offer industry-leading product innovation and service enhancements that ultimately improve the subscriber experience ... We are very fortunate to have been selected by MTS to deploy this state-of-the-art new product that provides greater reach, faster broadband speeds and added value for their subscribers."
