AT&T is opting for a more literal name for its mobile TV offering. The telco has decided to ditch the U-verse branding for the service, instead calling it simply, Mobile TV.
"Live pro and college sports? News? Comedies? Reality shows? Cartoons? Watch all that on ESPN Mobile, Disney, FOX News, ABC Mobile and more right from your smartphone with Mobile TV, our streaming and on-demand mobile television app," said AT&T's Rob Hyatt, in a blog. http://blogs.att.net/consumerblog/story/a7787222
Previously called AT&T U-verse Live TV, Mobile TV is available now to most AT&T smartphone customers. The changes are actually more than skin (name) deep: the refreshed service offers enhanced picture quality when watching on 4G LTE, and all subscribers will have their Mobile TV subscription billed directly to their AT&T account.
AT&T is also offering three specialty add-on packages for $4.99 each. The Urban Zone Pack features programming from BET. The Playground TV Pack has shows that appeal to kids. And Paquete en Español móvil has programming available from popular Hispanic networks.
Mobile TV is available on Wi-Fi and on AT&T's 3G and 4G LTE networks, and goes for $9.99 a month, regardless of the type of smartphone you use.
